In our primary class we have a candy jar. The kids can fill the jar up according to how good they are. They have a chance to earn 4 pieces of candy in the jar: one if they are reverent in opening exercises, one for listening and participating in our class lesson, one for listening and being reverent in Sharing Time, and one for singing well during singing time. If they are really bad then I take candy out.
This whole thing started with my first team teacher. She had them earn parties and she was a life guard. They had a pool party and a pizza party. After she was released we had a Halloween party. I finally decided just after I got a new team teacher that I can't afford all of these parties. So I came up with the jar idea. I did have to reiterate that they weren't bad kids, but that they are simply making a choice of being reverent and earning a party or not.
It has worked pretty well and they are doing better, but they do have some bad Sunday (which has worked for me due to low cash flow, he he he). They have been doing really well lately and have about 1/4 of the way to go. One of our kids is moving this weekend and he is one of my more reverent kids so I felt bad and decided to throw a party early.
The mom of the family moving asked for me to take pictures. I am glad she did. It was lots of fun. We had pizza, caramel popcorn and watched Enchanted. the kids were crazy. Only nine showed up. We were three short. I was a little sad they couldn't be in the pictures. I used to have 14 kids in my class and now I have 12. My house was a mess but I was glad the kids had fun. Anyway it is a lot of work I will be glad when they get me a team teacher again.
If anyone else has problems with rowdy kids in primary the jar thing works really well. I kinda stole it from our old ward. The song director in primary filled a huge jar as the kids sang really well. When the kids reached the top she divided it out between all of the kids. Like I said it doesn't work 100% of the time that is why I let the kids see me take candy out if they are out of control. :)

You never cease to amaze me! I again am so impressed! You are an awesome primary teacher, they are so lucky to have you as a teacher! Looks like loads of fun. I want to move into your ward and be your partner or have you teach our boys! You really are amazing! I have been in primary for over four years and the best thing I've done is taken treats-you are putting me to shame. Thanks for the idea!
You are too funny! really there is a lot more I can do. I am really bad at visiting the inactives. And whatever, I don't put you to shame. I stood in on your class before. You are an awesome teacher. Thanks for the compliment though.
Oh, I would love having you guys in our ward and you as my team teacher. That would be lots of fun. :) or having your boys in my class. :)
